SOUTHERN AMAZON PERU: In 1989 the Peruvian government created the Tambopata Reserve to protect an area of 1.5 million hectares. It is an “eco -tourism” area and one of the most beautiful and best preserved areas of Peru. The sleepy town of Puerto Maldonado is the most popular place to start trips to the Amazon jungle, filled with meandering rivers and amazing wildlife.
NORTHERN AMAZON PERU – IQUITOS: Iquitos is considered the best piece of the Amazon jungle in Peru and the ideal place for lovers of the eco-tourism. Since it cannot be reached by land it allows an intimate contact with the virgin nature of the Amazon jungle and its exuberant flora and fauna. The northern Amazon Peru is also home to some ancient Amazonian tribes.
